Cookie Policy

1. Short version

Fromerica does not set its own advertising or tracking cookies. Your login session and language preference are stored in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. An anonymous analytics identifier is stored only if you click Accept in the cookie notice; if you click Reject, or do not choose, we do not store it and we do not record your page views. None of this is ever sold or shared with advertisers. The only cookies placed when you use the Platform come from the third-party services listed in Section 3, which we use because they are necessary for the map, spam protection, and payment features to work.

2. What we store ourselves (local storage, not cookies)

Local storage is a browser feature similar to cookies, but the data stays only in your own browser and is only sent to our servers when your browser makes a request to them (for example, with your login token attached, so we know you're signed in). We use it for: your session token after you log in as an Exporter, Importer, Professional, or administrator; your saved language preference (English/Spanish); and your cookie choice (Accept or Reject), so we don't ask you again. Only if you accept, we also store a randomly generated, non-identifying visitor ID used only to measure aggregate site traffic (pages viewed, referrers); it is not linked to your name unless you are also logged in. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page: rejecting deletes the visitor ID from your browser. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings; doing so will simply log you out and reset your preferences.

3. Third-party cookies

Google Maps / Google Places — used on registration and search pages to display maps and suggest addresses as you type. Loading these scripts allows Google to set its own cookies on your device under Google's own privacy policy. These are strictly necessary for the map/address features to function; disabling them in your browser will prevent maps and address autocomplete from working, but will not prevent you from using the rest of the Platform.

Google reCAPTCHA — used on login and registration forms to distinguish humans from automated bots and protect the Platform from spam and abuse. Google may set cookies as part of this check, under Google's own privacy policy. This is strictly necessary; disabling it will prevent you from logging in or registering.

Stripe — when you complete a subscription, advertising-slot, or spotlight payment, you are redirected to a checkout page hosted on Stripe's own domain, where Stripe may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. Fromerica does not receive or control these cookies.

We do not use, and have not knowingly enabled, any third-party advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies (for example, no Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing tag, or similar).

4. Managing cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings, and you can inspect or clear local storage the same way. Because Google Maps and reCAPTCHA are strictly necessary for core registration, login, and search functionality, blocking their cookies will degrade or disable those specific features even though the rest of the Platform will keep working. We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as no common industry standard for interpreting them exists.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as the Platform's technology changes, by posting the revised version here with a new effective date.
